On Social Change and Its Challenges

Society is not conducive to change for a very simple reason.

The people who constantly re-evaluate and overthrow old systems of belief are not the same as the vast mass of the population which must enact the change. Most people are heavily anchored into the realities of outer society.

Thus, when change does come, as an exterior force led by the progressive revolutionaries, the common folk cannot but feel a shock to their core identity, and a looming question of whether the dissolution of a set of social rules also means the dissolution of part of their self.

As such, they oppose change, no matter what it truly means.
